Comparison of Mental Development Index (MDI) scores at 1 year of age within multiple-gestation births. Families are ordered by increasing gestational age at birth. Cardiac diagnosis in the child with congenital heart disease is indicated below gestational age. Families 2 and 3 are sets of triplets; consequently, results for 2 sibling control subjects are shown. The horizontal line at MDI of 100 represents the population norm. TAPVR, Total anomalous pulmonary venous return; D-TGA, d-transposition of the great arteries; TOF, tetralogy of Fallot; PA, pulmonary atresia; IVS, intact ventricular septum; HLHS, hypoplastic left heart syndrome; AS, aortic stenosis.
